Arrest Blotter: Contractor charged with not doing work
Michael Lee Beaver, 33, also is wanted in Washington County, Tenn., on similar charges.
According to warrants, Beaver was paid nearly $1,400 to do two home remodeling, repair jobs, but didn’t return to do the work. He was charged locally with two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses and one count of simple worthless check.
According to the Tennessee warrants, Beaver worked at a Johnson City handyman business and was paid nearly $9,000 to complete repair, remodeling jobs. However, when those who hired Beaver tried to contact him, they discovered his closed his office and disconnected the phone, warrants show.
Ashley Gunter Conard, 20, of Mobile Lane, Candler, charged with communicating threats and failure to appear on charges of driving while license revoked and hit and run. According to the arrest warrant, Conard threatened to physically injure a woman by threatening to get a group to shoot her. Conard was released under written promises to appear in court.
